Samoan Studies Institute does deal with preservation and promotion of Samoan Culture of which language is part of.

It is located in Mapusaga Fou village on the island of Tutuila.

The abbreviation is SSI.

I am not aware of another institution for Samoan Studies in American Samoa.

The Samoan Studies Institute was founded in 2007.

The Samoan Studies Institute is a Division of the American Samoa Community College.

I`ll try to answer, however I do not work with this matters (I am a civil servant in the County Council (Nordland fylkeskommune), not the Fylkesmannen i Nordland (state) :

– The local population is obviously made up of soldiers and researchers.
To which institutions and departments do they belong (Norwegian and
English names)?

The first meteorological station was established in 1921 by Hagbart Ekerold and with the exception of the winter of 1940-41, there has been continuous meteorological observations at Jan Mayen.

The expedition of coastal radio station Jan Mayen radio was shut down in 1995 and transferred to Bodo radio, where it is controlled via satellite.

Military: Loran-C stations in Norway in 2004 decided to close down by 1 January 2006, including the station at Jan Mayen. The four Norwegian Loran-C stations will be extended until 2009 and further on. The reason for the extension of the operation is linked to an increased interest in the ground-based navigation system in Europe. I think the stations definetly will be closed down by the end of 2015, and the newer – eLoran – will not be established in addition to satellite navigation systems. 

– Is there any special Norwegian telephone area code reserved for Jan Mayen?

– Does Jan Mayen form part of the County of Nordland?
This arctic Island is a part of the Kigdom of Norway, and therefore not a part of the Svalbard-Treaty. Jan Mayen is administrated by the Fylkesmannen (the representative of the state) in Nordland, however is not a part of the county of Nordland.

– Which Norwegian ministry is responsible for Jan Mayen (Norwegian and English name)?

Please see below responses to the questions you raised in your email dated 28 January 2015.

1. Responsibility for Ashmore and Cartier Islands, Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Coral Sea Islands, Jervis Bay Territory and Norfolk Island falls within the portfolio responsibility of Assistant Minister Briggs. The Department of the Environment is responsible for Australian Antarctic Territory and Heard and McDonald Islands.

2. Norfolk Island is currently a self-governing territory, the Jervis Bay Territory and Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands are non-self-governing territories. In respect of non-self-governing territories the Commonwealth applies state law (in this case Western Australian law) as Commonwealth law. This ensures there is a body of state law in effect in the non-self-governing territories. The Norfolk Island Government passes its own laws.

3. In respect of the Norfolk Island Territory  the Australian Government is due to respond to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Territories  (JSCNET) report on Norfolk Island late February 2015. In respect of Jervis Bay Territory the current review looked at three option: transfer service delivery to NSW and apply NSW law; Reincorporate the Jervis Bay Territory into NSW; and maintain the current arrangements and improve efficiency. The report is currently out for feedback in the community and government is not scheduled to consider this matter until later in 2015.

je m’appelle Sebastian Becker, je m’intéresse beaucoup à la géographie, particulièrement à la science des territoires d’outre-mer et à la
linguistique.

Depuis plusieurs années j’amasse des informations de ces territoires
d’outre-mer et c’est pourquoi je voudrais vous demander si vous pourriez
m’informer des détails de la Guyane:

Est-ce qu’il y a une/des institution/s territoriale/s (ministère, bureau/directorate d’un
ministère, commission, comité, association, académie, groupe ou initiative etc.) qu’elle/s travaille/nt à la préservation, promotion et
amélioration des langues amérindiennes, businenge, saramaka et créoles?
>De nombreuses associations, diffuses sur le territoire travaille à la sauvegarde et à la valorisation de ces langues.
A la Direction des affaires culturelles, il y a une chargée de mission pour les langues.
A la Région, le service Langues et patrimoine aura à charge (après le recrutement d’un chargé d’étude pour le multilinguisme) de structurer le monde associatif, de porter des projets d’équipement des langues, et de veiller à une meilleure visibilité des langues de Guyane dans l’espace public.
Le rectorat est aussi actif dans ces domaines.
L’université (UAG) dispense un enseignement en ethnolinguistique et un de ses laboratoires (Crillash) mène des projets sur les cultures des communautés de Guyane.
