I trust this is of assistance. 

Thanks I therefore would like to ask you politely if you may inform me about the Jervis Bay Territory.

– What is the structure of the new Department Infrastructure and regional development? What is the name of the subdivision responsible for the Australian territories? I have attached a publicly available copy of our organisational structure to this email. The division responsible for governing the territories is the „Local Government and Territories Division.“ 

– May you please provide some 2011 census population statistics, e. g. absolute figures for the towns/settlements within the JBT? Census data for the Territory is available here http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2011/communityprofile/910051009?opendocument&navpos=220  

– Does the JBT have any civilian, elected representative (chief minister or the like)? If applicable, what is his/her name, when was he/she elected, and what is the name of his/her position? The Jervis Bay Territory participates in Federal elections only. Residents vote in Commonwealth Electoral Division of Fraser (ACT) and for the Commonwealth Senate for the ACT. The current member for Fraser is Dr Andrew Leigh. Further details and the names of the ACT Senators can be found http://www.aph.gov.au/Senators_and_Members/Parliamentarian?MPID=BU8  

– The Australian government is locally represented by the Jervis Bay Territory Administration. Who does this agency lead, since when and what is the name of his/her position? The Jervis Bay Territory Administration is the local name for the Jervis Bay Territory Section, which is the Section responsible for the Territory within the broader Local Government and Territories Division mentioned above. It does not have an Administrator or the like, rather it is staffed by Australian Public Servants. The current section head is Sheryl Klaffer, who has been in the section since 2009, and works from the Canberra office of the Department of Infrastructure and Local Government. The Jervis Bay Territory office is run by an Operations Manager, Chris Baseler, who has been in the section since 2011. 

– Is there any kind of citizen council or the like for the inhabitants of the JBT? If applicable, what is its name, how many seats does it have, how long is a term, when was it elected the last time and the time before, and which parties/groups are represented? There is no local citizen council or similar group for residents within the Territory. The Wreck Bay Community Council is an elected body but relates to the Wreck Bay Community only (please see below). 

– What is the Jervis Bay Liaison Group? I am not familiar with this group I’m sorry. For the questions below, I will direct you to the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council who will be better placed to answer your remaining questions. They have a website which may answer many of your questions and also has a ‚Contact Us‘ option www.wbacc.gov.au  

– Which Aboriginal language and/or dialect do the Wreck Bay Aboriginals speak? Cf. http://www.ethnologue.com/country/AU/languages

– May you please translate the following expressions into this Aboriginal language?

I am not aware of these statistics ever being calculated for the Territory.

If they were available they would be located on the Australian Bureau of Statistics link I provided before http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2011/communityprofile/910051009?opendocument&navpos=220  

In general there is limited industry within the Territory, the vast majority of employment is provided within Australian Government organisations such as Booderee National Park, Department of Defence, Australian Federal Police and my Department.
There is a supermarket and a commercial tourist park (Bay of Plenty Lodges) and numerous other small enterprises such as bed and breakfast arrangements or cultural based business from members of the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community.
There is also a commercial arm to the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council (Contract Services) which carries out much of the park maintenance such as cleaning and roads maintenance.
The primary industry would of course be tourism but much of the population works outside of the Territory in the neighbouring Shoalhaven region.

Thanks for your translation request form. I have sent your translations on but will try to answer some of your queries now. 

With regard to Sarnia Chérie – I understand there is more than one version but please find a translation that was requested recently and translated for us.

With regard to local dialects/variants – yes there is variety within the island.  The major different is in between the ‘Bas-Pas’ (northern parishes) and ‘haut pas’ (higher or upper parishes of Guernsey).  The preface in Marie de Garis’ dictionary mentions this.

The institutions working on the preservation & conservation of Guernsey French are, at the moment:

• L’Assembllaie d’Guernesiais – this was formed in 1956 to preserve the language and culture of Guernsey.  For more information about this group I would recommend contacting Mrs Hazel Tomlinson on drharry@cwgsy.net. They don’t have a website.
• The Guernsey Language Commission – www.language.gg. 

Sark French – I’m sorry but we do not offer this.  I recommend contacting the Société Sercquais http://www.socsercq.sark.gg/contacts.html

Dear Sebastian,

Sark does not permit the use of motorised vehicles on Sark roads other than tractors and mobility scooters, subject to certain conditions.

Sark does not issue a driving licence in the context you are asking, however all drivers of tractors and mobility scooters have to renew a driver’s licence annually to permit them to use Sark roads. These driving licences are issued by the Sark Constables, endorsed by the Road Traffic Committee.

Sark does not issue a vehicle number plate/licence plate in the context you are asking, however all tractors and mobility scooters are taxed annually and are required to display a disc demonstrating that the tax has been paid for that vehicle. There is no codification system of tax disc numbers. In the case of tractor they are issued each year in a sequence that is roughly alphabetical for the names of the tractor owner, for mobility scooter it is a numerical sequence in which they are issued.

Driving licences are issued by the Sark Constables, endorsed by the Road Traffic Committee.

As for send you graphic copies of licences/tax disc I would first need to speak with the Road Traffic Committee.

There is no Commissioner to Pitcairn following the departure of the last Commissioner in March 2010. 

The Pitcairn Islands Office in Auckland, while sharing the same floor as the British Consulate is actually an office of the British High Commission based in Wellington.
Note: The British High Commissioner to New Zealand is also automatically the Governor of the Pitcairn Islands.
